Swim Lesson Program Overview - Level Advancement Goals

Level 1: Bubbles & Bobs

  • 10 Relaxed bobs

Level 2: Floats and Torpedos (Streamlines)

  • Front Float – 10 seconds
  • Back Float – 15 seconds
  • Front Torpedo and Recover – 5 seconds
  • Back Torpedo and Recover – 5 seconds

Level 3: Torpedo (Freestyle) Kicking

  • Front Torpedo Kick – 5 meters
  • Back Torpedo Kick – 5 meters

Level 4: Boats and Windmills

  • Long Boat Kicking – 10 meters
  • Windmill Arms – 4 Crawl arm strokes with no breathing

Level 5: Beginning Freestyle (Crawl Stroke)

  • Sculling
  • Freestyle (Crawl Stroke)
  • while breathing with a minimum of 4 breaths

Level 6: Backstroke

  • Swim Freestyle – 25 meters
  • Swim Backstroke – 10 meters
  • Tread Water for 1 minute

Level 7: Breaststroke & Butterfly

  • Swim Freestyle – 50 meters
  • Swim Backstroke – 25 Meters
  • Kick Breaststroke – 10 meters
  • Body Dolphin – 10 meters
  • Dive Head First

Level 8: Turns

  • Swim Freestyle – 100 meters using bi-lateral breathing
  • Swim Breaststroke – 25 meters
  • Swim Backstroke – 50 meters
  • Swim Butterfly – 10 meters
  • One complete flip turn – Freestyle
  • One complete two-handed Breast/Fly turn

Level 9: Lifetime Strokes

  • Swim Freestyle – 200 meters using bi-lateral breathing
  • Swim Backstroke – 75 meters
  • Swim Butterfly – 25 meters
  • Swim Breaststroke – 50 meters
  • Swim Elementary Backstroke – 50 meters
  • Swim Sidestroke – 50 meters
  • One complete flip turn – Backstroke

Level 10: Individual Medley (I.M.)

  • Swim Freestyle – 300 meters
  • Swim Backstroke – 100 meters
  • Swim Breaststroke with pullouts – 75 meters
  • Swim Individual Medley (I.M.)- 100 meters
  • One complete I.M. backflip turn – Backstroke to Breaststroke
